Summery of Master Thesis

"Traffic Management of Multimedia Implementation over
Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode (WATM) Networks"

To meet the anticipated demand for wireless access to the broadband Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network, the concept of wireless ATM has been proposed in 1994. One of the main challenges in the design of a wireless ATM network resides in the conception of a Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol that will handle the different ATM services while providing an efficient utilization of the wireless channel.
In this thesis, we propose a new Dynamic Reservation/Allocation Time Division Multiple Access (DRA-TDMA) MAC protocol that extends the capabilities of asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks over the wireless channel. DRA-TDMA combines the advantages of distributed access and centralized control for transporting voice, Variable Bit Rate (VBR), Available Bit Rate (ABR), and Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) traffic efficiently over a wireless channel. The contention slots access for reservation requests are governed by the slotted Aloha protocol which based on two groups of mini-slots, one for real-time services (with highest priority) and the other for non-real time services (with lowest priority). This priority algorithm improves real-time traffic Quality-of-Service (QoS).
DRA-TDMA also features an integrated bandwidth allocation algorithm that efficiently assigns the users access to the wireless ATM channel by considering their requested bandwidth and QoS required. We also introduce a method to dynamically adjust the number of uplink reservation mini-slots per frame as a function of the estimated contention traffic.
Integration of voice, VBR, data, and control traffic over the wireless ATM channel using the proposed DRA-TDMA MAC protocol is considered in this thesis. Simulation results are presented to show that the protocol respects the required QoS of each traffic category while providing a highly efficient utilization of approximately 98.33% for the wireless ATM channel.

Graduation Project

Adaptive Digital Signal Processing

Digital adaptive filter aims to remove the signal noise using a variable parameters filter, where these parameters are adaptively changed according to the incoming noise. From this point of view, the value of Adaptive Digital Filter (ADF) shines in compare with the ordinary filter that has fixed parameters. The Adaptive Digital Filter has a lot of practical applications that can be used in noise canceling systems, Modeling & system identification, Equalization and in many other applications.

Robocon

Robocon is an international robotics competition organized by ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union). Representatives from Asia-Pacific countries compete in the contest. The Robocon competition encourages the development of robotics and Mechatronics as engineering disciplines. It is a competition for university, college and polytechnic students in the Asia-Pacific region. Under a common set of rules, participants will compete with their opponents in other countries to create a robot using their creative and technological abilities in an open competition.

Robocon Egypt:
Robocon Egypt is a national robotics competition held by The Egyptian Radio and Television Union annually under the patronage of the Minister of information. The winner represents Egypt in the international contest.
